Job Description 24-hour specialty and emergency hospital in Berkeley, California is hiring an Urgent Care Veterinarian. This is a daytime urgent care role, not overnight emergency, sitting at the intersection of primary care and emergency medicine in a well-established referral center that has been part of the Bay Area veterinary community since 1979. The hospital runs two buildings, three surgical suites, a GE CT scanner, full in-house lab, digital radiology, and 13 exam rooms. The urgent care caseload is high-volume but oriented toward quick resolution, which means you are moving cases efficiently without the sustained intensity of a full ER shift. You will have real-time access to board-certified specialists in surgery, oncology, radiology, ophthalmology, exotic animal care, and internal medicine when you need a consult. The emergency department runs 24/7 with internship-trained DVMs and a medical director on site. The nursing team is experienced and engaged, which matters on busy days. Leadership here is described by the team as communicative and present, not hands-off. This is a hospital where the specialists, emergency doctors, and urgent care staff are expected to work across departments. With a loyal and invested client base, the standard for communication and medicine is high, clients take recommendations seriously and follow through on work ups and treatment plans.
